How It Works

FAQs

Answers about the plan, including eligibility, options, enrollment, customer service and more.

  • Who is the provider?

Since 1995, Pet Assure has been America’s Veterinary Discount Plan. Pet Assure is not traditional pet insurance, so there are no exclusions, all pets are eligible, there are no denials of care, and pre-existing or hereditary conditions are covered.

  • How can this help me?

You simply pay the vet 25% less for all in-house medical services every time you visit a participating vet. You will save on all medical services, including:

    • Office visits & exams
    • Vaccines & Shots
    • Dental care, including teeth cleaning
    • Spaying & Neutering
    • Surgeries
    • X-rays
    • Emergency care
    • Routine visits
    • Elective Procedures
    • Any other  in-house medical service and procedure!

  • Which pets are eligible?

You can chose from a single or unlimited plan which will cover either one or all of the pets residing in your home. This includes any type of animal (dog, cat, horse, rabbit, bird, ferret, etc.), older pets and even pets with pre-existing or hereditary conditions.

  • When can I enroll?

You can enroll at any time!

  • What if my employment status changes?

If you leave or retire from your current employer, you can continue your plan membership at the same discounted rate. Once your plan is inactive, you can log in to your account at www.petassure.com to continue your plan. Or simply call or email Pet Assure’s Customer Service.

  • Which pets can I enroll?

You can enroll any pet that resides in your home.

    • Any type: dog, cat, horse, rabbit, bird, ferret, etc.
    • Older and senior pets
    • Pets with pre-existing or hereditary conditions
    • All breeds, even those considered “high risk”
  • Can I use this together with pet insurance?

YES! Regular pet insurance often costs more than it saves for general veterinary care and usage. Insurance is better used as protection for major medical claims.. If you plan to purchase or have already purchased a pet insurance policy for that reason, you should certainly consider a Pet Assure plan which will cover your pet’s wellness care and hereditary and pre-existing conditions. Additionally, Pet Assure will save you on upfront veterinary costs while you wait for any insurance claims.

Insurance Deductibles - Since pet insurance has deductibles between $100 and $1,000 per year, you would be required to pay all of your vet bills prior to meeting the deductible. Pet Assure would save you 25% on all of those bills.

Denied claims - Because pet insurance has hundreds of exclusions, many claims are rejected.  Pet Assure has no exclusions and will save you 25% on in-house medical services every time you visit a participating veterinarian.

Initial payment - Pet insurance requires that you pay the vet in full and then file a claim, which can be a financial strain. With a Pet Assure card, you will instantly save 25% off your initial payment. You would then submit the amount paid after the Pet Assure discount to your pet insurance company.

  • Can this be used instead of pet insurance?

Yes. Pet insurance can be costly, especially for families with multiple pets or older pets. With Pet Assure, you can still save money on your vet costs without purchasing an insurance plan.

  • What procedures are discounted?

All in-house medical procedures are discounted with Pet Assure. This includes, but not limited to, office visits, exams, shots, vaccinations, surgeries, dental cleaning & services, spays & neuters, and x-rays.

  • Is there anything that is not covered?

The only things that will not be covered by Pet Assure at the vet are: 1) Products which you take home with you (e.g. food, prescriptions) 2) Outsourced Services (e.g. blood work sent to a lab or an outside specialist) 3) Mobile vet mileage fees 4) Non-medical services (e.g., routine grooming and boarding). The discount is on the veterinarian's standard rates and fees.

  • Where can I find a list of vets in my area?

You can search for participating providers by visiting www.petassure.com/search

  • Do I get the 25% off when I pay my bill or does Pet Assure reimburse me later?

Savings are instant! Simply show your card and the veterinary staff will deduct 25% off all medical services, right then and there. You do not have to file any claim forms nor do you have to wait for reimbursement.
